Birth mothers- I see you, I hear you.
Just like the leaf that floats through an empty wood on a windy night, it makes a sound, but no one is there to hear its rustling. A birth mother is there to walk the same path, but who is there to hear the cries made.
You know there is a sound; yet, why is it not heard?
I have walked that path. I am a birth mum. I have made a sound, and this: Speaking Up, is the time to be heard.
I am in a fortunate place to have a beautiful, powerful, and open adoption with my son and his mum. Speaking Up is about sharing my journey as a birth mum. It is about sharing my side of what can be both a horrific experience, but something that also can be beautiful.
My passion doesn't just lie in sharing my experience, it is also the fuel and energy that I have put into my undergraduate dissertation, my MA and in future, my PhD. The aim, to have voices heard.
The upcoming blogs on this page, will highlight personal struggles, positive experiences and amazing interactions with not just charities and organisations, that I've been so grateful in being able to participate in. But, in the hope it can show the amazing journey that I am on with our son and his mum.
Birth mothers- I see you, I hear you.
